This is horrible. I have the parts list and overhaul Manual for the Continental C-145/O-300 and can NOT figure out the part number for the Push Rod Tube Upper Packing.

Figured out the seal on the other end!

Anyone?

Thanks- Jim Layman

Jim,
There is no packing on the upper end. Compare the original pushrod tube on the right in the picture to the Real Gaskets STC pushrod tube on the left which does have a seal at the top.

The tube is swaged in place as you can see here.

Well that explains why I could not find a part #!!!

When it gets to the point I need to repair more than the two now seeping, the Real Gaskets STC looks like the way to go.

Thanks-

Jim

There is a special tool made to swage the upper end of the push rod housing tubes from the indide. The tool forces a steel ball outward as it is rotated inside the upper end of the tube sealing it against the material of the cylinder head.. Care must be taken to preclude usng too much force and disorting the end of the aluminum tube.
