The International Cessna^® 170 Association

Hello. New to owning a 170B and new to the site. We are having to replace the left side door latch. Can someone let us know if this latch assembly is available? Thanks for the help.

The original 170 system of door latches have minor differences between them...and some airplanes were converted to later 172 systems.

The entire fleet of Cessna 170 models have been out of production since 1956 and it is therefore problematical to think of parts and complete sub-assemblies as being on some warehouse shelf awaiting purchase.

You're most likely to find "complete" assemblies at the salvage yards. You are also soon likely to abandon the entire thought-process of "parts replacing"...and adopt a theory of "refurbishment/repair" of existing items, sometimes using salvaged parts.

Now that you know what you're up against.... the next thing you need to do is access a 170 B Illustrated Parts Catalog and study it, so as to more accurately determine the exact parts you need to return your door latch to service. Once you can positively identify for others the precise part you need.... someone may be able to help you.
