I have my insurance policy through AOPA, it's underwritten by, heck, I forget who (I'm at work right now). The have insured my and my partner in a 182, my partner has 0 hours and it was no problem to get him insured. The rates are good as wekk, this company specializes in low time and zero time pilo...

The 182 that I almost purchased

I know this is not 170 related but it shows what can do wrong when purchasing a plane. Saturday, January 14th 2006 9:00am Today is the day we are heading down to Fort Worth, Texas to inspect and hopefully purchase a Cessna 182. Marc and I have been looking for a plane for 4 months now, the first two...

I had a Colt and Tripacer :)

I agree that the Pacers are very nice planes and I'd love to fly one, deep down I'm a cessna man :)

Greetings everyone, I'm looking for a C170

A good friend of mine is looking to buy his first airplane and take flying lessons. We've been looking at older C172's, C170's, Tripacers and Pacers. He likes the taildragger's and is really looking hard at Pacers. Being a former 172 owner I'd like to see him in a 170 :) Does anyone know of any for ...

If a 4" venturi is designed to pull 4" of vacuum at 100 MPH, I can't immagine how two 4" venturis could be hooked up to pull 8" of vacuum. It seems like it would be like two air compressors that each produced 100 PSI. How could they be connected to produce 200 PSI? I have no ide...

Nope, two 10" venturies. Properly hooked up two 4" venturis should be able to deliver 8".

The regulator is in and will be installed in the plane in a few days. I'll report back then.

Thanks Geroge. I do have the newer style Gyros in the plane. Is there any where I can obtain the "blueprint" of how the system should go together with what I have? I have two newer gyros, two venturies and a suction gauge. The shop is going to order a Rapco Regulator for $140 and install t...

Here is the key Dave. What size are the venturis? If you have stock venturis they where designed to develop 4" of vacuum. If you have stock venturis IMHO there is no way you where getting 7" from the one venturi you where measuring as you have it depicted. I revised my drawing as I made a...

Vacuum System

I own a '56 C172 with dual venturis. A month or so ago I started a thread about suction and my gyros not working properly. I had a suction gauge installed and found that inlevel cruise flight I would pull 7". We decided to put a releif valve in the system so I could bleed out some of the excess...

I'd like to add my 2 cents worth to the other members who see no benefit in restricting postings of non-members. They pose no harm and can often cotribute. Let's leave things as they are. Rudy I agree. I am a 172 owner but am also a paying member of this organization. I decided to join based on sev...

Regarding the McDonalds Coffee Case, those who have expressed an interest in knowing the facts will find a brief and informative recounting at this website. Not to be argumentative BUT, the woman spilled it. Period. Why should a jury award money to someone's own incompatance. It was an accident, th...

Aviation Fuel Excise Tax Refund

I saw a small sign at a local FBO today that said something to this effect: "Effective some date in 1995 a 15 cent per gallon aviation excise tax is added to fuel at the refinery. For non-commercial operators you must file the proper form with the IRS to get your refund". Anyone know anyth...

Thats to all who posted here. I am going to have some kind of regulator instaled. I was going to get one from Cheif aircraft but the shop seems to think they can do something pretty inexpensively.

The reason I said it was "uncertain" is due to the response Wag Aero gave me regarding them. When asked which office had approved their PMA they couldn't say, and didn't have the document "handy". For what it's worth I had the wag-aero pipes installed during last years annual. M...

Re: owner assisted maintenance & legal issues

I was down to the Renton (RTN) airport yesterday to meet another association member and saw a 1956 (guess) it had a straight tail, Cessna 172 that was painted with a 1997 to 2000 Cessna paint scheme. I love someone with a sense of humor. (note) not the members airplane I too own a '56 model 172 and...
