Re: New Garmin Portables
George, I'm not sure what sort of jet's you operate but a handheld GPS may be useless as a backup (without an external antenna) if your aircraft has heated windows. Additionally, I recommend trying the safe taxi feature before making a decision about its value. Ask a buddy who operates a new Garmin ...

Re: BAS TAIL HANDLING HANDLES
Installing the pull handles was a good investment; I wish that I did it sooner. Better for the plane and a lot easer on the pilot. Before installation talk to some one that has installed one. There are some steps that are not in the directions. The tail pull handles are definitely worth the time an...

Bruce,
I keep my 170 at paine Field (KPAE) in Everett. I would be happy to let you and your son try it on if you are ever down this way.

C-145 Crankshaft Question
So I'm thinking I may overhaul my C-145 this winter. The engine only has 500 smoh, but it’s been a long time since it's been apart. My aircraft has an early (1948) C-145-2. Based on the fact that I have the .25" hole in the flange and no "D" suffix on my serial number I’m assuming...

Re: Shoulder strapes
I installed the Cessna (SK170-12C1) Shoulder harness kit, and I am very happy with my choice. The kit includes new (Black) lap and shoulder belts, and all the necessary hardware to install. Installation took about 2 hours. The best part is the kit was less than $200 shipped.

Equipment List
Anyone have a equipment list they would be willing to share? Mine is in need of some work and it would be helpful to have a spreadsheet with the basics as a place to start (besides the TCDS).
Thanks,
Marshall

Re: Flexible brake line pics?
Since this post is about brake line routing....Anyone have a source handy for the Cessna 206 brake line fairing for the hard line on the gear leg? (P/N S1511-1 Fairing Brake Line 18.75 In Long, Bulk Item Ref- S1511. -1-1875) Shown as item 9A in Fig 45 page 119 in the 1974-1976 C-206 PC. Thanks, Mars...

Re: 170A instrument panel labels
I've got a friend in Florida who does laser engraving. I am in need of a new "Plexiglass Decoration Panel" but like most 60-year-old airplanes my switches are not wired exactly as they were back in 1950 (Strobes, Ect..). The panel George has looks great, but the labels would not be totally...

Re: Spring Gear Testing
Call Jim Hayton at North Sound Aviation in Sedro Woolley, Washington (360) 661-3302 I recently visited his shop with my landing gear for inspection. He will strip, measure (in a fixture), conduct the NDT inspection and prime the legs for a very reasonable fee. He did have a significant pile of gear ...

Lady Leg 337 for A model
I'm looking for a copy of a field approval for the installation of later B model landing gear (S/N 25612 and on, P/N 0541118-2 & 0541118-3) on a C-170A. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Legality Opinions
Bruce, Thanks for the feedback. I hope you didn’t misinterpret my post. Perhaps my message wasn’t clear. I was not suggesting that anyone install questionable parts, or not maintain their aircraft in accordance with applicable regulations. I was simply stating that it is a bit monotonous filteri...

Legality Opinions
As a new member of the Association I am disappointed with the amount of drama on the forum regarding legalities. I appreciate the information that is shared, but wonder about the seemingly endless discussion about the "Basis of Approval" of insignificant items. Maybe it’s just me, but un...

Re: MT Prop
I've had a couple MT props on my Aerobatic aircraft (Sukhoi and Laser) and have had some expensive AD's as well. The downside of the MT is some of the repairs could only be done at the factory in Germany. The Lag Bolt repairs (and shipping) were not cheap and the 6 weeks with no prop wasn’t nice. ...

Re: Cessna 170 Resale values
Blue4, Make sure you ask a lot of questions about the AOPA loan before you sign a contract. I had planned on financing about half of my 170 with them back in June (I’m also building an aerobatic aircraft so I wanted to keep some cash for my project). After the approval process was completed I wrot...
