Re: Flap handle decal
Looking for this decal required on 170A. Can someone reference a page # for me in the IPC? I checked and this one is driving me nuts. Thanks. Correction.. this is not the decal that attaches TO the handle but the decal indicating flap position for take off. Fits on the dome at the base of the handle.

The TCDS doesn't show any required placard regarding t/o flap position on the 170A. There is placard 0511168 from fig. 40-36 which is required in that area. Here's a picture of it:

Oh boy... did I make a mistake. The placard indicates elevator trim position on the johnson bar cover. Nothing to do with flaps other than being in the same general area. So, the placard/decal I need is the one that covers the flap handle cover (in between the seats) that indicates take off trim for the elevator trim tab.
Still looking... Mark

Are you looking for whats left of the black one or whats left of the red decal?
Or are you looking for this one on the flap handle cover (this one is a '53 but I believe the A and B are the same.

Re: Flap handle decal
Bruce, both decals are missing from my plane. I have been lazy responding because I just put some tape on the right side with an indication from trim position for takeoff. So, I guess I miss labeled the original post, although the decal is next to the flap handle. So, I am looking for the decal that indicates trim position.

I believe this is the label you are missing on the handle.

Re: Flap handle decal
canav8... no I miss stated my requirements and need the trim position label which is more or less pictured on Bruce's first shot above. The label is near the flap handle on the center tunnel and I just started calling it the flap handle label when I should have stated "trim position" label. Mark

Re: Flap handle decal
To properly place the pitch trim decal the system should be confirmed to be properly rigged with full up/down tab travel, then with the tab in the neutral position on the elevator (i.e., streamlined) the indicator should be at the mid-position of the placard.
(The 170 and 170A tab deflection is 10 degrees UP and 27 degrees down. The 170 B tab deflection is 12 UP and 25 down.)

Excellent information.... Since I am missing the placard (take off trim position) I believe you are suggesting I fabricate one?gahorn wrote:To properly place the pitch trim decal the system should be confirmed to be properly rigged with full up/down tab travel, then with the tab in the neutral position on the elevator (i.e., streamlined) the indicator should be at the mid-position of the placard.

Re: Flap handle decal
I made mine with a PTouch label maker. They have white lettering on transparent tape. Looks pretty good too so I did all my placards that way.
