Intake flex hose for Avcon Conversion

Post by C-GUNK »

Hi - I've never posted anything before but have a couple of questions -

Does anyone know what the Avcon SA806CE STC Drawing list 17013 calls for in the way of a flex hose between air filter and carb. box? Or what type of electric fuel pump is called for? I need a new gasket for the screen on the fuel pump but can't identify the pump. The present intake hose is 4" scat hose but doesn't look right - scat isn't generally used for a negative pressure application. Thanks for any feedback !

Both the Avcon and Del-Air drawings call for 12" of CEET 16 from the air filter to the air box.

Avcon drawings call out the firewall-mounted fuel pump as 476087. Del-Air calls it Purolator 476087. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/e ... oldflo.php

I'd be reluctant to use CEET or SCEET ducting because I've heard of cases where the inner layer of material comes loose and blocks the intake. I'd use SCAT ducting but even that, according to Aircraft Spruce, is not recommended for negative pressure. Marathonrunner has another alternative here.

Last I looked the carb intake SUCKS! All kidding aside, We are required to inspect such areas @ 100 hours and annuals. I personally have never seen good healthy SCAT come apart within that time frame but I guess it could?? 8O The Del- Air box is pretty flimsy and cracks out even without he added weight and (shake) moment of additional structure. Second; My SCAT is only maybe 8 inches and pretty well crowds the space between cowl and carb air box. Earier STC's were maybe better.

Think I'll stick with what works for me and hope for a better Del-Air product to show up
