Unapproved parts warning Avion Research Corp

If I read this correctly, in the case of the 170, if you bought an instrument panel from Avion to be installed per STC SA170CH, you likely have an unapproved part because they didn't have a PMA to make and sell it.

If that is the case you can always go the "Field Approval" route. The limitations would be that you don't operate the aircraft if it is now installed until that approval comes through. At the time I installed mine (C-170B) it was obvious that no STC or PMA existed so Field Approval was the only option. (Panel and modified yoke)

This is the same process I followed when I installed mine.
