inner air box seal

Post by 3958v »

I am looking for the seal material which attaches to the front of the inner airbox. It is round felt wraped in a black plastic like fabric. I need to repace this and have not been able to find any info from a search here. Any suggestions? Bill K

I think this might be as close as you find Bill.

I don't think it a cloth impregnated material though.

Make your own seal, Aircraft Spruce has 1/4 in felt in sheets, cut two 1/2 in strips and glue together and wrap with
cloth covered rubber cut from apron used in chemical lab or rubber rain coat. sew closed, looks like original. Apron cost me $17.00 and I think felt was around $7 or$8, enough for 2 airplanes.

See page 5 of the Brown's catalog (download a copy)
Also look at their various sizes of silicone "P" seal and tadpole seal:

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)
