Enjoying this old bird!
Been flying 3850V for about three months now and have discovered I am A. "in love" and B. hopelessly" hooked on grass." Seems to go against the natural order of the universe to land on asphalt. My wife doesn't seem to mind my new love. As for the addiction, my plans are to simply enjoy it and not seek treatment. Honestly, the thought of being "cured" is depressing. I know for a fact that I'm a better pilot than I was. Taildraggers seem to have that effect. I now understand why God gave us rudder pedals. My first trip was to the mountains of North Carolina to pick up a friend with stops in Georgia and South Carolina to visit friends. Great trip! Landed at the grass strip in South Carolina where I got my very first airplane ride as a child, about 1958. I've landed there a few times over the years but landing there in the 170 was special. The strip now belongs to someone I knew from my childhood but had not seen in 40 years. Our friendship was renewed and I left with an invitation to return any time. Turns out there's a cabin within walking distance and there will be a truck waiting with the key in the ignition. Anybody can land at the "big airport" in town, landing on the grass strip where it all began for me was a homecoming.

Yes, I know perfectly how you feel , the other day after 3 weeks of work and bad weather I managed to go flying just before sunset . I told the wife it was going to be 1 circuit . Just after takeoff and levelling out on downwind leg it was WOW ,this is the life . 1 circuit turned into 5 circuits and the sun fast disappearing behind the hills my phone went off . It was wife and she said " I thought it was going to be 1 circuit "!!! . Oh well back to reality .

Ha! My wife doesn't mind my "mistress" either! Says to say hi to her, in fact, when I disappear to the airport to give "her" a massage (polish job!)
