GA do you want to price an overhaul or a complete fire wall forward? there is a difference. Might as well throw in a new prop, tires tubes and a new wheels and brakes too.

That was exactly my point.

Many times an owner will submit what he thinks is only his engine for "overhaul"... and then later tell the story about how it ended up costing twice-as-much as he'd been told.... when in-fact the simple "overhaul" of an engine-core actually morphed into the complete FWF project which such matters truly become. The engine repairman gets the blame for the lack of oversight/understanding of the owner.

What good does it do to replace an inner-tube..... when the tire, brakes, axle, and wheel-bearings are all shot...?? (Oh yeah....., and the lower bolt-holes in the gear-leg have cracks.) 8O

Exactly.... the bigger the hole gets, the bigger it needs to be. pretty soon we have a new aircraft. :)
