Blast Tubes?

Post by Onewinglo »

Guys, I'm looking through the 170A Parts Manual in an attempt to learn a little and I see references to "blast Tube - Oil Temperature - Left". I suspect Blast Tubes direct cooling air flow to different components. But this one appears to point straight down behind the engine and dump air to nothing. What am I missing here? I'm looking at Figure 38 - Engine Installation.
Thanks,

Is your engine really that clean or did you wash it for the photo?

Possibly could you be looking at the breather tube?

Ok, that makes sense. I did not know two oil screens were involved. Are both screens cleaned as part of a routine oil change?
Thanks for everyone’s patience with a new guy!

Thats a good one for sure!
Thanks for the help.
