SAFETY PRODUCT NOT AVAILABLE

Post by MoonlightVFR »

Think of a senior citizen upon a LADDER, near the Cessna wing refueling from a plastic gas can. Not a light load 8ft up. That mental picture alone can make a pilot feel vulnerable.

Now add the media presentation of static electricity/plastic cans.

Gas station static electricity You Tube . Car on Fire Pants on Fire Immolation

Now here's an Attorney SAM KING of YouTube fame 407 244 3000 - his law firm wants to share their research on gas vapor - flash backs - flame explosion -they have video target all plastic gas cans

Frustrated Wal-Mart shopper you tube calling out the Wal-Mart SMART FILL gas can - he's safe because he cannot operate high tech gas can.

DIY Pilot shares info build your own Safety converted Gas Can. GOOD IDEA, GOOD MAN
Aircraft Spruce sells a 5 Gallon SUPER DUTY Fuel Container natural HPPE thick wall CNC machined Screw on Cap -has a VENT - 41.50 ea- Tech Managers have not a word on safety grounding . True clueless

Pilot cannot locate or purchase a Grounding Refueling Can

Are you convinced that there is a clear need for a innovative product to be developed ?

Where are the AVIATION ENTREPRENEURS?

You could run a piece of metal foil tape from the spout as a way to ground it.

Carbon Black is used for conductivity in hoses including PTFE. It can be used in plastics.

Here is a patent on a conductive gas container.

I don't think it any question it does happen. In this case the person got back in the car. As she got out she fouled with her sweeter. She had the static charge. Not the gas, the hose or the car.

Touch the metal pump cabinet before reaching for the hose OR your car's gas cap in order to discharge any static. If you leave the nozzle (bad idea) touch the metal cabinet again BEFORE approaching the nozzle.

Using a plastic gas can... KEEP it in direct contact with the tank-filler opening throughout the refueling nozzle. This will prevent static buildup. Keep YOURSELF in direct contact with the metal of the vehicle/airplane/etc.. Do NOT pour the gasoline stream for any distance from the tank.

Remember, gasoline during the refueling operation is too RICH to ignite...unless you pour a stream of gasoline, allowing oxygen in the atmosphere to vaporize the stream.

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)
