Pilot Static Line Replacement

Post by nippaero »

Has anyone replaced their pilot static lines with nylon tubing and presto type fittings? I was thinking about cleaning up the lines under my panel. It there any requirement saying they must be aluminum?

We used the Nylo-Seal lines and fittings when we re-did our panel based on recommendations of our avionics guy that did the pitot static check at the time.
The material is used on newer planes and is acceptable standard parts.

Logbook entry.

I hate that plastic crap! I used low press hose and regular AN fittings.

To each their own.
I found the nylon fittings to be easy to work with.

There are a lot of guys on the RV forum that are having a hard time getting a good seal with Nylo fittings and instruments. Some have solved this by using metal fittings on the instruments and Nylo for the rest of the system.

I used the Safe Air 1 stuff in my RV-7.

Not sure if they are still available but the fittings I am using are similar, leakproof and good for 280-300 psi.
