2 PC Clamp Alternator

Post by MoonlightVFR »

There is a 2 PC clamp used to secure the cooling blast tube directed at side of Alternator.

I need to know exact P.N. and a source where I can purchase a rreplacement. I have seached hanger and tool boxes. cannot locate original.

C170B 0 300, Ford alternator Cessna Kit 1970s.

Can anyone help with a source?

Grady, you really need to look at Cessna Service Kit, Alternator Conversion, SK-172-22 which you can find attached to the first post by George found here:
http://www.cessna170.org/forums/viewtop ... 663#p58833

On page 5 is all the parts listed you should need unless your particular modification was not standard per this service kit. Stuff like this tends to be modified over time by folks who misplace what was there and simply replace it with something of their own design made from stuff they have lying in their parts bin. In other words the clamp you can't find now may not have been what the service kit calls for and in fact we aren't really sure your Ford alternator was installed per this service kit in the first place. It is just as likely someone collected parts and installed it similar to what might be found in this service kit.

If this were me, I'd look around at any local source of aircraft hardware for parts (a clamp) that would work, and use them.

Bruce

Thank you for the referall to Service Kit SK172-22

Kit parts list list 4 clamps - actual instructions do not state which part p.n.

BY talking to aviation parts suppliers , giving them all the listed numbers - possibly have discovered actual Cessna P.N.

P.N. is 0450036-1 . Tiny 2 PC clamp that secures end of scat tube directed to Alternator.

Parts dept employees was in disbelief at cost; list 372.00 discounted to 344.00.

Yingling suggested KRN in Arizona - They are going to pull stock and send a picture.

their NOS part 0450036-1 is discounted to 223.00.

In 1972 I purchased the entire SK172-22 kit for 275.00 total !

Beginning to look like a hanger parts fabrication task.

I'm thinking if you bought the following:
  • AN3-3A bolt - qty 1
    MS35207-265 screw - qty 1
    MS21044N3 Nut - qty 2 (this is a 10/32 self locking nut)
    MS35333-39 washer - qty 3
    AN735D32 Clamp - qty 1
And a 3/8" wide flat strap of aluminum or steel of suitable stand off length and thickness enough to hold shape to make an owner produced Cessna part 0450033-1 strap.
you'd pretty much have what you need for less than $10

This is all of #9 and #5. I have no idea what 0450036-1 Clamp is but bet it's the AN735D32 listed in 5.

This is what I'd scrounge up anyway.
