When I bought my 170, it had wheel alignment issues.
When we put it on grease plates and checked the alignment, we found that the alignment would be corrected by taking the shim on the right side out, and installing it with the correct orientation. I suppose someone took the axle off, and got the shim orientation mixed up when reinstalling it.........

A trick I learned from others here is how to do this without greased plates.
Use heavy-duty (contractor-grade) plastic trash bags. Lay one upon the other, then roll the airplane onto the bags. If they twist-and-shout at you.... time to realign. (I believe BluElder gets credit for this one.)
