SK172-22M Show Me Your Diode

Post by MoonlightVFR »

I have down loaded the Service kit instructions. Many thanks to the 170.org for providing the service.

My C170B was converted to ALT from 35 G .

Professional install by A&P IA left a little to be desired.

Always questioned the terminus of old original wiring to the new kit wiring connections.

simple bolt/nut ties old to new. Really -- looking at a knot of electrical tape for 25 years. Really are you kidding me.

I have never been able to confirm that a diode was ever installed.

Thus my question. Would you please show me your diode? Photos iPhone with a flashlight ?

The diagram in the link shows how/where it's mounted across the battery master solenoid : http://cessna170.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=6663

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)
