When replacing control cables recently I discovered the lower flap cable on aircraft modified for floats is shorter (by 150mm) than the non float version. Does anybody know why? Was the flap handle moved back perhaps?

If you are referencing the part numbers in the Illustrated Parts Catalog for the lengths, that is where the error is. The seaplane (stainless steel) part number is the correct length (as listed in the IPC). The one listed in the standard airplane configuration was for an earlier serial number set of airplanes. There are a couple threads on here about this. I spoke with an engineer at Macfarlane when I bought a kit to replace all my cables years ago; he said the Cessna IPC says what the cable p/n's are and thats what they have to go with (presumably for their PMA approval). I was able to find out about the serial number change, but the best they could do was send me the stainless version at no extra cost.
