180 engine conversion

Post by bigbub »

we have just acquired a beautiful 170b with an avcon 180 hp conversion and a brackett air filter. unfortunately, the filter sticks out naked about 3 inches and ruins the lines and look of the aircraft. it needs a nice looking fairing around it. does anybody have any ideas where to get one or if maybe we could construct one. thank you

Mike,

If your air filter sticks out that far, somebody screwed something up. Mine is nearly flush with the cowling. I've recently switched to one of the high flow filters, but in any case, your filter shouldn't stick out that far.

Someboby really screwed up. Find a 170 mechanic and get it fixed.

How do you get the cowling off? or how big is the exhaust hole? Time for some shears on the airbox.
