If you've got a Craftsman tool that Lowes doesn't stock, calling that number will result in them creating an account for you under a phone number and eMail address. They will ship you a replacement for the broken tool, and eMail order and tracking numbers.FULL STATEMENT FROM LOWE'S CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS:
"we will honor all lifetime warranties no matter where the CRAFTSMAN hand tool was purchased. We ask that customers bring in the item, and we’ll replace it if we have the product. If we do not have the product, customers can call the Customer Care Hotline (888-331-4569)."

(NOTE: Several postings on the web, erroneously list a phone number with 883 instead of 888. The 883 number goes nowhere!)
Hopes this helps - good number to keep in your directory.
