Let’s hope the 170A gets added to the AML.

Re: AUTOPILOT (Trio)
Adding the C170A to the AML for this autopilot, presents two significant problems. 1) Lacking the flap well created by the Fowler flap of the 170B, there is no exposed rib on the outboard end of the flap to which the roll servo bracket can be attached. 2) The 170A lacks the inspection hole through which the servo bracket and servo are installed on the 170B. While these obstacles are significant, they may not be insurmountable. What I would like to find, is a damaged C170A right wing, that could be used to prototype a roll servo installation. If anyone in or near N. Texas has, or knows of a wing that could be used for this purpose, please contact me. I would be willing to contact Trio for some parts, and work on a mock up installation. From my past conversations with them, I don't believe they will do it on their own; simply not enough potential sales. But, if we could hand them a solution, I think they would be willing to take it forward for approval.

Drop me a note, I’m in Ft Worth. I may be able to help, either with my wings or by connecting you with someone who could provide a damaged wing.
With the Continental IO-360 STC upgrade and Sporsmans STOL, I think my plane might benefit from this autopilot, assuming the GFC 500 doesn’t get added for the same challenges listed above.
