What's the dope on prop bolts for a C-145-2 with a 1A170/DM7655?

Post by brianm »

I am going to try to measure the ones removed from the airplane, but that happened 18 months ago and I'm worried they might be elusive (or were incorrect in the first place).

I have a 1A170/DM7655 on a C-145-2, skull cap spinner. I'm getting different info from different sources. Here's what I've found:

170 IPC: AN6H-45
170A IPC: AN6H-37
McCauley application guide: A-2513-23 (grip and overall length match AN6H-40)

To add some confusion, the AN6H-37 grip and overall length match the McCauley A-2513-10. Those bolt are used on 1A170/DM props, except the application guide specifically calls out the longer -23 bolts for the 170.

Any idea what is right?

(Funny to note, Air Power lists the B4622-36 bolt kit with the A-2513-23 bolts as in stock for only $267  , with a shipping weight of 20 lbs  )

The A-2513-23 is the long bolt in kit B-4622-36

The A-2513-10 is the short bolt in kit B-4622-30

The best solution is to measure the grip length you’ll need to have full thread engagement.

I agree with George. You need to measure your grip length. But to give you one point of reference, I have a skull spinner on a 1C172/MDM7653 with AN6H40A bolts on my C-145-2. I chose that length after measuring the grip length when I switched from a bullet to a skull spinner. They were AN6H41A with the bullet spinner.
