WTB 170A ASI

Post by bjan11 »

Looking for an ASI for a 170A. Nothing presently on eBay as far as I can tell. Also if someone could point me to a salvage yard with a 170 currently in it, that might help too.

There is nothing special about the ASI in a 170A that you need to look for one from a 170A. Unless of course you want to match the original exactly. Even then you don't have to have an ASI from a 170A just have picture of what you want. If you have an ASI already, you can have it cleaned and repaired if necessary and have the face restored if it's original or changed to the face you want. Keytone Instruments is a company that can do all the repair and or restoration to what ever ASI you send them and they have them for sale. http://keystoneinstruments.com/
CAUTION - My forum posts may be worth what you paid for them!

The Assoc’n owns a 170A Airspeed Indicator which appears good, but labelled… “Needs overhaul”. If you are a Member and will pay for USPS Priority mail…. it can be yours.

…it should be there Monday.
Hope it works out for you. It was originally donated to the Assoc’n by a Retired American Airlines pilot who was restoring His Fathers 170-A which HE had soloed 60 years ago! So, yes…it’s the (likely) original to that airplane.
Kind regards
George
