Source for 2024-T4 Alclad sheet
Need to repair a little corrosion. The 100 Service Manual calls for 2024-T4 Alclad aluminum about 0.073 thick. Need roughly 2' X 2'. Does not appear on Aircraft Spruce Website. Can anyone recommend a source for this material?? Muchos Gracias, Chuck
What part of the airplane (skin) are you repairing?
See if you can get your hands on a copy of AC43-13.
T3 = solution heat-treated and cold-worked by the
flattening or straightening operation (this is what you
get when you buy a sheet from Aircraft Spruce).
T4 = Solution heat-treated and naturally aged.
T42 = End user heat-treated from any previous
temper.
I'm 90+ % certain T3 is allowed as a substitute for T-4,
as long as standard bend radii, etc. are adhered to.
If you can't form the replacement part in T3 without
exceeding limits, you get to fabricate it out of O (annealed)
2024 and have it heat-treated to T-42.
FWIW, the mechanical properties of T3 and T4 are very close.

Thank you, gentlemen.
Actually, I am repairing the right front wing spar in the area of the fuel tank iaw the 100 Service Manual, Structural Repair, Wing, Figure 19-6, Sheet 2. This illustration calls for both T3 and T4 material. I agree with Bela completely and that was my escape route in the event I cannot locate T4. Will substitue T3 because with all the doublers and sixty plus rivets, the repair will be substantially stronger than the original spar. Just prefer not to arouse the Feds unnecessarily . Thanks again for the comments.

The company I work for gets their aluminum sheet from future metals http://WWW.futuremetals.com. They will cut it to size for you and also offer heat treating services. They are reasonably priced.

Give these folks a try. They are at Oshkosh every year and pretty nice to deal with.

You might try your local sheet metal fabrication shop. Look in the yellow pages under sheet metal & maybe also under kitchen equipment (commercial). They might not have any in stock but could probably get you some. You might have to buy somewhat more than you really want though. Might as well buy from Spruce or wicks in that case. They both list 2024-T3 (but not T-4) in their catalogs.

OK, Guys. Help me here. If I wasn't looking for it it'd pop right out at me. In the EAA Sport Aviation mags I know I"ve recently seen that ad for the sheet metal supplier that has the sweet little old lady standing in a spool of sheet-aluminum. Who is that? And I imagine they'll have a supply of T-4 they'll sell.

I asked a friend who owns a steel supply company for a source of 2024-T4 Aluminum and he came up with Metal Express.

I looked through there site and found 2024-t4, but not in your demensions. My friend said that they maybe able to fill your order even though your demensions are not mentioned in their catalog.
