Elevator skins

Post by Robert Eilers »

I am considering reskining my elevators. Is there a good source for just the skins? I talked to Preferred Airparts - they have only the right upper in stock for $183. I was hoping to be able to improve the looks of my elevators relatively inexpensively. Looks like that idea might be a pipe dream.

In one of the forums there is a list of parts suppliers, I think there are a couple who sell control surface skins. You should be able to get what you need from one of them. I think it's in the MX forum near the top.

Here's a couple sources I made notes of. I haven't bought anything from them yet but I've read others have had good experiences.

REPLACEMENT SKINS FOR Cessna corrugated skins (also, with heavy flap skins available). Reduce crackling with our flap trailing edge bulb. Extended baggage for early 180, 182, and 185's. All parts STC'd PMA approved. Have an idea for STC? For parts manufacturing and engineering call Air Metal Fabricators, WA/(509) 923-2274, FAX (509) 923-2371 or amfi@genext.net

I have had excellent experience with Karl fairly recently with new rudder skins. Reasonably priced and promptly shipped.
