HELP I need a door handle escutcheon for my A

Post by Mark »

I am finally putting the interior back in the plane but am missing one of the door handle escutcheons

I think the one I do have is an original parts since it looks the same as ones at Oshkosh

it is a 1951 model if that helps

anyway it is the 2 piece type that has the center section spring loaded

can't seem to find any at the parts places I have looked

Is there an equivalent auto part

it seems to me that the handle is an old Chevy or some such so maybe there is an auto replacement for the escutcheon

I have a pic but can't seem to get the img thingy to work

Someone in here has spoken of an auto parts distributor for classic cars that may have parts we can use. A website address was even posted. I have not been able to locate it here lately. I Just happen to be looking for the part that holds the assist strap to the door post.
Wish this post was more helpful to you. :?

I wish I could post a picture here but the img doesn't want to work for me

I might have one of the old ones but would have to look thru some boxes. It might need to be rechromed and would need to know what yours look like. Brian

The door handles, escutcheons, and assist straps are vintage car parts. If Chevs of the 40's doesn't work out, you might try LeBaron Bonney ( http://www.lebaronbonney.com ). They are another vintage car parts house.

You might also try the salvage yards like Wentworth and the like. I've had luck there in the past with such parts.

There are instructions posted elsewhere how to post pictures. You image must be stored in an area that is published to the internet. This is usually NOT your computer at home. Once the image is in such a place and you put the address (url) of the image between the img tags it will work. Till then it won't.

Wish it was easier.

I think photobucket will work. You do need to inable BBCode for any of this to work. Notice you can't quote people either.?

Make this change in your profile by clicking yes to BBCode.
