As my project is finally drawing to a close , I am looking at installing the Cessna secondary seat stop set-up. (Cessna service Bulletin SEB89-2.)
I have the the Kit the parts and FAA approved Flight Manual Supplement,
( which includes 170 ser# 18000 thru 27169.) but no installation info ? ?
Does anyone have experience with this KIT ? If so any recommnedations for or against it ? ( I do also have the safe-T -stop s as well. )
Also in my Cessna Kit I seem to have lost the installation instructions for SEB89-2 , does anyone have a set of installation instructions for this kit ?
John-
As you know, the Cessna secondary seat stop service kit was not an original installation on the 170. I have the one Cessna sent me in 1989 still in the bag, never opened. Installation was not mandatory and I didn't want to install it. They are a hassle to release and I thought in an emergency situation it might actually impede evacuation of the plane and possibly lower your chance of survival.
The Aero Technologies (800-338-0907) Safe-T-Stop cam lock style at $39.95ea is the best seat stop available in my opinion. They have never slipped on me and can be re-positioned in an instant.
These stops were originally made by a couple of guys up here in Alaska in the mid-1980s and sold by Atlee Dodge Aircraft Services. They were not STC approved and the FAA would not field approve them. The guys knew they were a good product but had no interest in the approval process. I have been using the originals since 1986 well before Aero Technologies copied the design and patented it.
The reason you probably do not have the installation instructions is they were stapled to the outside of the bag. If you are still going to install your kit, PM me with your email or mail address and I'll send you a copy.
