Idle speed

What should idle be for a C-145?

I ask because in the pattern on final with full flaps at 60mph I am turning 1050rpm or so ... seems fast to me, and I think I could get down better if the prop was turning slower. I have a climb prop (not sure of the pitch).

I think the idle on the ground while stopped is 700-800rpm ... will check this evening.

BTW, I have to say again how much I love this airplane. Flew this AM early, was able to stop, spin, takeoff again and be airborne before the first turnoff at KUMP! It is such a sweet flying plane ... I find it easier to handle than my skyhawk!

According to the TCM Overhaul manual, the static idle is specified at 500 rpm. Be aware that is while sitting still on the ground, zero wind, standard atmosphere. While inflight, your idle will be much faster due to the relative wind. (Do not idle your engine for extended periods below 800 rpm or you will starve your upper cylinders and piston lower surfaces for lubricating/cooling oil which is normally supplied by crankshaft sling.)
