Hanlon-Wilson Repair/Overhaul
Who are the "go to" guys for repair and overhaul of Hanlon Wilson exhaust systems? The baffles in one muffler are completely shot and all of the flanges on the risers need to be replaced or repaired as well.
(Thanks Mr. IA who pencil-whipped the last annual 40 hours ago, you &%$#)

That's a difficult cost to estimate until the shop sees the condition of the system to be repaired. They simply don't know what-all they must manufacture in order to overhaul the system.
But if the entire system is in need of replacement, including tailpipes, clamps, risers, connectors, bolts/nuts, gaskets, shrouds, etc etc., then plan for $1600-$1800. If all you need is muffler repairs (unlikely in most cases) you might get away with $500.

I guess it's easy to ask low prices for stuff that has no installation approval or that you don't really have in stock. I've seen low priced offered by others as well, but when you call them they only have one side, not the other, or they have a "backorder".
AWI is not only a supporter of TIC170A, but they provide paperwork to support the approved installation of their product.
Also, their individual parts prices are very competetive. Quoting only one side's muffler from Chief overlooks the comparison you seem to have difficulty with. A muffler only, is quite different than a quote for all the other attaching hardware, risers, shrouds, etc. etc.

I guess I deserved to be insulted for offering that little bit of previously unmentioned information in an unassuming question format. If I see a muffler for sale, whether both are available or not, I have to ask if all the other mounting hardware and heater muffs are worth $1600 - ($364 x 2). Sorry if that rubs you the wrong way. That's fantastic that AWI supports the Association, but it doesn't mean they're the final word in Hanlon Wilson solutions.

There was no intent to insult you at all. I'm sorry, sometimes the printed word seems to carry inuendo that wasn't intended.tripslip38 wrote:I guess I deserved to be insulted for offering that little bit of previously unmentioned information in an unassuming question format. My point was that AWI is very competetive, does good work, AND supports our association....therefore I like to recommend they be canvassed when shopping for exhaust parts.

Point taken. From what Miles says, the price difference is actually not that much. I just makes me happy to see multiple sources for 170 parts. Now if only that were true for door hinges.gahorn wrote:There was no intent to insult you at all. Edit: For reference, the ones that Chief carries are made by Wall Comonoy, and may be available elsewhere too.

The 15% discount noted by AR Dave below makes the AWI seem to be the best solution though.

AWI: overhauled, with a 15% discount for being in the 170 Club.
RH Muffler 0550157-32 $325
Curved riser 0550157-8 $78, straight riser 0550157-7 $45.
AWI didn't have the curved risers in stock so they had to have one made up for me. It came from a different location, Knisely is stamped on the side.
