Trevor-
The cap pawls that engage the tank filler neck are in-line with the handle tabs on the caps whether new or old style. It seems strange to me that Cessna would have lined up one side but not the other. Oh well.

Chances are a repair or mod has occured since the airplane was mfr'd, likely the tank or filler has been worked on.
