Has anyone come across an AD for the F&M oil filter/adapter? A mechanic buddy of mine informed me today at lunch of such. I couldn't find anything on the FAA website AD list. I just received my adapter but have not installed as of yet. I'm aware of the retorquing after 10 hours and to use only the 2 oil filters called out. Anything else I should be looking out for?
Thanx

Your mechanic may be thinking of AD 96-12-22 which is against the Cessna Oil Filter Adapter, not the F&M. Basically the AD has you check for leaks and the condition of threads where the adapter goes into the accessory case. They also have you torque putty the big jam nut that holds the adapter in place. IMHO, the AD is not a big deal.
As far as I know, the F&M adapter is AD-free and is most likely cheaper.

He is probably thinking about the AD on the Cessna oil filter adapter. I have an F&M and there are no AD's that I know of. If you want to check give F&M a call. http://www.fm-enterprises.com/mainmenu.html# If your engine has a lot of hours on it F&M will loan you a thread chaser to clean out the threads for the adapter. If you call they are very helpful. It is a well designed and easy to install and maintain product.

You pretty much got it figured out. If you don't have a 1" (I think) square socket, I was able to make one by welding a scrap piece of square tubing that fit the square nut with just a touch of filing, to an old socket.
