Kinda off topic but my understanding is vacuum pumps have a max altitude which they work anyways do to air presure. (I think I saw this in a Piper Arrow book) I remember flying a Cherokee 6 once with a standby vacuum that was from the engine. If I remember the placard right you had to pull power back to get good vacuum to drive the instruments. All in all probably a good backup if the engine is running. Probably fairly inexpensive compared to a electric standby or electric attitude etc. Who likes hard IFR in singles ANYWAYS!

I miss the minimum static RPM by about 50, but I attribute that to a 600 foot elevation, some tach error, and an engine that was last overhauled in 1974 8O This thread did raise a question regarding the prop. If my log is correct, I have a 7651 prop. I can't remember if this is a cruise or climb prop. Can anyone refresh my memory :?:

A 7651 prop is a climb prop.

John a 7651 would be considered a climb prop.

Yes we were typing at the same time. Was there with the Quakertown Pilots Association pilots. We just finished flying about 30 Young Eagles and went to lunch at Sky Manor. Buck Franke had his 52 there as well which he got from Doug Mowry.
