I would like to inject a few questions about prop bolts.

Do you think it is neccessary to cut safety wire and remove ALL prop bolts at each annual inspection?

When do think it is proper to package the prop up and send it to shop for detailed inspection?

No. Unless there's reason to suspect corrosion in that area. The aluminum prop bolted with steel bolts to a steel crankshaft can lead to corrosion and rusting, especially in corrosive environments. If the airplane is stored outside in seacoast or industrial-pollution areas....I'd inspect that area frequently. At annual is probably a good time. (but if I had to remove ONE bolt, I'd remove/inspect them ALL.) If the airplane is stored outside in non-seacoast conditons I'd do it every 3-5 years.

Inspection?: Any time more than superficial corrosion is found in the annual inspection mentioned above. Any time the prop is damaged by being stricken such that any repair greater than minor leading edge re-dressing/polishing is required. Any time the engine is overhauled or rebuilt (1800 hours in our case.)

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)
