Lift Strut Lengh 170A ver 170B

Post by Bruce Fenstermacher »

Over the years I've had discussions with different people as well as questions asked here, about the length differences of the struts between the 170A and the 170B.

Well this weekend I remembered to measure them to report here. The measurement I took is not from the center to center of the attachment bolts which would be the critical measurement but from the underside of the main strut tube edge to edge.

While the critical measure would be center to center of the attachment bolts the measure I took would also have to be correct or the strut would not fit between the fuselage and wing skin. This is more easily seen than described.

So what was the measure? For the 170A it was 90 3/16" and the 170B was 91 3/16". So the B model I'm pretty confident in saying is 1" longer that the A model.
