Awh, heck! I thought I had it cinched. You're just like my math teacher, you want an exact answer. I kept telling her I was in engineering, and you can't get closer than three significant figures with a slide rule. And the engineering profs were happy if you just derived the equation. Now I'm gonna have to get out my engine overhaul manual and try to figure it out.
Thanks for the compliment on my 170's condition, it's hard to think about changing it after 39 years since the last paint job and interior. I bet some of the other guys feel the same way. Who's in charge of new catagories anyway?

On the C-145/O-300 series the tach cable would run at 1200, same speed as the camshaft. How many points do I get, and how many will it take to get a cup of coffee?N9149A wrote: For example for bonus points when your tach is reading 2400 RPM what RPM is the tach cable spinning?

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner.
Miles I had a feeling you would come through with the answer.
If you have a $1 and this knowledge you may get a cup of coffee in some places.
As for points, as head judge at the upcoming convention you can give yourself as many points as you dare in that new "Rat" 170 category we're going to explore.

Tach Thread
I like this post about theTach and the various experiences.
Had a tach problem and the A&P replaced it with a new one.
I took a long trip (STL MO TO NYC , Stewart INTL and RETURN)
I told the mechanic put my old tach back in and you keep the money and the new tach. I'm not flying behind that thing. Period. My old tach just squealed ocasionally but it settled down into some thing believable.
The NEW tach was mfg in CHINA!
Regards
