I've meant to post this for some time know but for one reason or another just never got around to it.
This discovery was made by Buck Franke who seems to have a lot of free time on his hands to do research of this type between buying and selling airplanes.
If you have original instrument panel lamp sockets installed in your panel and they are getting a little lose and intermitent, brand new sockets matching the original exactly are available from Newark Electronics for a whopping $2.35 a piece.
Manufacturer: SPC TECHNOLOGY
Newark Part Number: 16M1216
Manufacturer Part No: SPC21725
Good to know! Sort of like George, I like my 170 as it was designed (with a few exceptions). I still have a few of these sockets, but it's good to know where to get more.
Thanks for posting that information Bruce.
After ordering the 2 sockets that I needed (plus 2 for you) I received a message from Newark saying that the part is no longer in production and the 700 or so they have in stock will be it.
