No problem at all. That's the real purpose of these forums.... helping each other.

Miles.... I couldn't remember if the seats I had were full seats or just frames......after going out to the container, I found them frames.....sorry to get your hopes up..... these were 1959 175 seats, but would have worked.......if your mechanic would allow........ BTW in your orginal post you asked how the foam(or what ever you want to call it) was held in....its by the seat fabric, ala hog nose rings on the underside/backside.

Miles, are you going to use Airtex covers or are you going to custom make them. The reason I ask is that the Airtex covers are pretty much fitted for the stock configuration with the 1" foam over the seat support material over the springs. If the high tech foam is the same dimension it should be no problem but if you get to fancy with the contours you may have a problem with the Airtex covers without some modifications.

Miles, most upholsterers use a membrane of heavy canvas beneath the foam. The foam is then laid upon the membrane (which is secured by hog-rings), and the entire assy is covered in the finish fabric.
Now all you have to do is get Karen to take an upholstery class at the community college... THEN let her know you planned to keep her anyway!
(Of course, your real problem is whether or not she'll keep you. With her investment in reupholstering the airplane, maybe she'll have more incentive.)

Not yet... George was kind enough to put an entire seat frame up for the grabbing but all I really need is two handles and two attachment elbows.
I'll keep looking. As I mentioned if worse comes to worse I'll work on making a set. The other solution I came up with was to straighten the handles best I could and then re-drill the holes for the pins by offsetting new holes 90 deg. from the old holes and install new pins.
Only issue with that is that after 56 years of pulling on them - the stuff is well worn.
