Is there any other crankshaft that could fit on a C-145 engine? Have been looking for one but it seems to be almost imposible to find or afford it if you do.
Would the O-300 crack fit on the c-145?
Any thoughs?

Re: C-145 Crank Replacement?
The O-300-A crank will fit the C-145. The O-300-C/D crank will also fit but will require a propeller change. The IO-360 crank will fit and is available from TCM new, but will also require a prop change.
If you must comply with U.S. regulations, you will be needing the STC which TIC170A sells to it's members.
I thought you'd already purchased a "Zero" SMOH engine in San Antonio?

Re: C-145 Crank Replacement?
Just to clarify Georges statement.
The Associations STC does not allow you to actually change the crankshaft. If you are needing the STC to install your C-145-2 or 0300-A with the later C/D or IO 360 crank on your 170 with the required propeller, then the Associations STC can help you. Actually keeping the engine itself legal with the different crank is another process all together involving Continental Service Bulletins and/or the fact the new part supersedes an approved obsolete part.

Re: C-145 Crank Replacement?
I can just see the "Fuzz" checking the engine data plate for type and then requiring removal of the spinner to count the prop bolts. They frequently make this easy check since none of the crankshaft flanges have more than eight bolts and they dont have to take off their shoes.

Re: C-145 Crank Replacement?
Bruce very generously once shared his method of determining the number of prop bolts with us....No need to remove the spinner. Look at the back of the prop flange and count them. (Helicopter pilots are accustomed to looking at the back side of things.)
