Headliner
We are ready to order a new headliner. We had planned on wool but has anyone installed Vinyl? Also there is a great price difference between Airtex ($300) and Aircraft Spruce ($236). Has anyone had any expierence with either? It looks like a pain to install. Any suggestions? Yes I know " hire someone else"

Vinyl headliner
Many years ago I installed an Airtex vinyl headliner in my 170A. It fit good and was not too much trouble. Just be sure and install it when the weather or hanger is very hot so the vinyl will be more soft and plyable. As stated, that was many years ago. I have no idea what the difference is between the Airtex and the Spruce headliner.

Airtex products are high quality and designed from original Cessna drawings. Material is personal preference but I like the looks of the wool better in a classic aircraft. My aircraft received a new grey wool headliner about 5 years ago. It was professionally installed. I have also just installed new Airtex leather seats. They do great work.

I purchased the grey wool headliner from Airtex last year. It looks fantastic! However, I did hire someone with experience to install it. I found a local auto interior man to do it. He charged me about a 100 bucks and worked on it most of the day. I did some other interior work as well. If you need shoulder harness now is the time. I went with the Hooker Harness.

I have the vinyl headliner in my 170,and don't like it. Wool looks & feels much nicer. Also,my vinyl headliner has kinda stretched out over the years, looks pretty saggy. I believe a wool headliner can be given a face-lift by dampening it & using a blowdrier or something to shrink it back to proper shape.
Go with the wool.
