175 fuel tanks

Post by Guest »

I am interseted in installing 175 fuel tanks in 170 wings. Is this possible, has it been done before, and are there 337's for the procedure. Are the wings basically the same except for the first rib? Can you put 175 wings on a 170b?

1. Yes. C-175 tanks have been installed in C-170 wings. You must either install the 175 electric quantity system or modify the 175 tanks by welding in mechanical gage bosses. It has been done both ways on a 337, but i do not know where they can be found.
2. Yes. The wings are the same except for the first rib and the underwing vent system.
3. Yes. You can install 175 wings on a 170 on a 337. See Velvet for a copy. Long range C-172 wings are the same.
