I am wondering are 140-120 fuel tanks the same as 170 (1948) :?

Don't know about the physical size but the capacity in gallons is the same. The part #'s are very different though.

C140 left fuel tank # 0422122-4
C140 right - - - #0422122-3

C170 left fuel tank # 0522612 C170 right inboard #0522613 C170 right outboard #0522614

I have one out of a C170. Not sure whether it is left/right inboard or outboard. I have never seen a tank out of a 120/140 wing so I can't compare the size.

Here are some pictures from the internet I came across of C-120/140 tanks.

The stampings are the same but the fuel filler cap is the same as a Cessna 195 not a 140. 140 tanks will work if your interested adding a tank as you will be adding two cross feed tubes in the bottom and a vent tube up top connecting the inner and outer tank. The fuel filler hole and gauge neck hole will be welded closed. If you plan on doing this I would check with the FSDO first and make sure they will approve your modification. They dont seem as willing to approve changes as quickly as they use to. I have two left tanks out of a crashed 170 that broke an axle on landing. They have some damage but they might be useful if you were to decide to go ahead with the mod. You can find me in the directory if your interested. Bill K

I just notice that the P.N.s are for C170 tanks not 120s or 140s. Someone may have modified them to fit the little birds.

That was my mistake on the part numbers. I edited the picture tags. They now show the correct part numbers.
