Nose Sheetmetal
Im looking into redoing the nose on my '49 A and wondering if anyone knows which if any parts are interchangeable with other models? It seems as though the 0552000-?? numbers are not available. However, there are some 0552001-?? numbers out there. Thanks

Re: Nose Sheetmetal
According to my parts manuals for a 170A the 0552000-xx numbers are for serial numbers 18003 to 19200 and they have another identical picture with part numbers 0552001-xx for 19200 and on. The 170B has the same picture as the 170 and 170A IPC with the 0552001-xx numbers 170B models with serial numbers from 20267 to 25372.
I've never known there to be a difference in any year of the early cowl (or first) design but as you point out at some point the parts numbers did change. I suspect that change occurred when the A model was produced and the number is all that changed.
I personally would buy parts with either 0552000-xx or 0552001-xx that I needed and expect them to all work together and produce the early cowl you want.
