Need I/A in PNW for 170B
Lost my A&P/inspector of 9 years for C170B annuals etc who was located at EUG. Now looking for a new facility/individual for annual inspections in NW OR, Any recomendations?
Prefer: The person at least somewhat familiar with C170/early C172
Has sensitivity to 56 yo aircraft...IE not ham handed
Would be great if some owner assistance is allowed though that may be a stretch. I formerly would do routine stuff in prep for annuals such as tire replacement/removal of interior/inspection plates/lube fittings/.

Steve Pankonin, Beagle airfield, near Medford. Experienced, reasonable, supports owner assist inspections. Worth the short flight.
Steve has helped me with both a C140, and my 170B.

If you want to fly a little further on up past Seattle to Arlingtom ( AWO ) give Rick Moore at the Pilot Shop a call.
360-435-0823 hanger or 360-403-7428 store. He is an A&P I/A & CFI that does a number of Cessna taildraggers up here and he practically insists on the owner helping. He also works Wednesday thru Sunday so you can schedual a weekend trip if that works. I'm guessing but I think there are at least six 170's hangered on the field. You can contact me if you have any questions.

Here we go with "Identifier Speak" again. Isn't it supposed to have a "K" in front of it?

Guess I have been guilty of using apt identifiers myself. I'll endeavor to name the airport in the future and maybe also put in the identifer. I often read these posts and see folks referring to apts by identifer and I have no clue where that is and don't want to take time to look it up. Maybe all of us could begin giving apt and/or city names.

I own an airplane that was annualled by Steve Pankonen for twenty years. That airplane lives in AK with me and works great. I visited with Steve before I bought it and would recomend Steve to anyone. His shop is in White City OR.

If it's "PNW" you're talking about, a "K" won't help. There's no such airport. I believe he means "in the Pacific North West."blueldr wrote:Here we go with "Identifier Speak" again. Isn't it supposed to have a "K" in front of it?

Where's "apt", Frank?170C wrote:Guess I have been guilty of using apt identifiers myself. ...

I guess bluEldr still connects to Idlewild after changing planes by walking across the grass at the Orchard!

You're almost right there, George. I used to fly Convair T29s in and out of Idlewild when LASI ( Lockheed Aircraft Service International) had the IRAN
(Inspect and Repair As Needed) contract with the USAF. It sure as hell didn't look then (1954) as it does now.

Thanks Steve and Dan....good info and references. Sorry about the confusion with airport identifiers however folks in our corner of the map know what PNW is and those that don't would not likley be of useful assistance in this matter.

Rick Moore
The Pilot Shop in Arlington Washington (KAWO)
(360) 403-7428
I've been happy with Rick's work. He's a small-low overhead operation, however he does good work and he seems to know old Cessna's. Especially the 0-300. He also is happy to work owner-assist.
I would highly recommend him for pre-purchase Annuals.
So far we've replaced the tailwheel bracket, elevator bell crank bearing, mufflers, carb. accelerator pump, starter seal, left caliper, trouble shot the generator, repared a cracked bulkhead, and re-rigged the engine controls. Good Fun. All stuff the pre-purchase AI missed.
