firewall insulation blanket

Post by 4-Shipp »

While I have all the engine controls out of the firewall, I need to replace the insulation on the inside of the firewall. The bottom bellow the heater duct is a nice whole piece but the top half is plastic covered fiberglass and is in terrible condition. I am assuming it is the original or close to it.

What materials and sources have others used for replacement?

Thanks,

Bruce

Airtex makes one. Looks ok but very thin....

I used the 3/4" inch non adhesive backed. It is amazing stuff. Very quiet.

We used a quilted fabric with fiberglass insulation sandwiched inside. It looks good and works well. It came in a roll from one of the supply houses but I can't remember which one. It was cut to fit then bound around the edges so it would not unravel.
