Teflon Tape Uses

George, you have previously discussed using Teflon tape on the tailsprings. Did you put in just at the end of each spring or just on the one above the bottom spring? Did you just put a piece across the very end of the spring? The tape is white, how would you prevent the white from showing if your springs were blacke or gray (or would you be able to do so?) Could you elobrate a bit on putting Teflon tape on the cowl doors. Exactly were did you put it? I've got the tape, but at the cost, I don't want to waste it trying to figure out how to use it. As an aside, would there be any advantage to putting Teflon tape all along the boot cowl area where our cowlings fasten?

I installed the teflon tape along the top-edge of my cowl-door, to prevent chafeing and blackening that results from the contact between the door and the upper cowl. It would likely also do well anywhere else such chafeing/blackening occurs.

It was installed between all my tailwheel leafsprings, but this was the result of mis-communication. I intended it to be only installed between the mainspring item 11 and the spring just above item 12, and especially to releive chafeing/gouging of the (fourth) mainspring by that trailing edge of the spring above (item 12, the "third" spring.) I think it's a good idea to use a fine file and smooth/bevel the lower, trailing edge of that third spring so it will not be as abusive to the mainspring as they flex.
