Thanks all, for the help.
He found a yellow tagged gear, I dont where, but I was told he paid $300 for it. I have not talked to him in a couple of days.
Gahorn , He has a new dry pump , but I will tell him when I see him next week.
The only other change that I know he had to do, was to replace the three studs that hold the adapter on, with longer ones.

My talorcraft has a venturi and I wouldnt trade it for any of this newfangled stuff :)

Yep. Another "modernity" I don't agree with are those troublesome angle-mount starters. Those "wind-up" spring clutches are trouble, and a dragging starter will thoroughly send metal parts down into the engine. And for those of you who like "lightweight, permanent-magnet, geared starters" like from two certain vendors.... you will be disappointed to note that the angle-drive adaptors can be eaten-up by them because of their failure to "backspin" to release the clutch.

The original pull-starter, if properly maintained and replaced or repaired when it need it, is a good system and totally free of those problems. (Foks just need to recognize that even a pull-start clutch is not built like the pyramids or designed to last more than 30 or 40 years and should be inspected replaced occasionally.) 8O

On that subject, .... how often do you guys think a starter or generator/alternator should be removed for inspection/bearings/brushes? Too many think they should be run until they fail :?
500-600 hours/cycles or 5-years is good and mid-TBO (900 hrs) should be considered mandatory, just so you know.
