hangar doors

Post by christopher merker »

I am considering buying an old hanger with heavy clumsy steel framed doors. I need to consider door options prior to purchase. Outside sliders are NOT an option. The hanger measures 39'6" between the 6" posts. Is there a rap around door that would fit inside the hanger and still give room for the wings?

Merk,

Check out these two threads. I built my door last year (a very close copy of George's) and could not be happier. My situation sounds very similar to yours, as I built my door inside an existing building with nearly identical measurements. When I built my door steel was $0.50 pound and everything cost around $2K. I did all the welding and fabrication myself so no labor costs were incurred. Good luck.

Bruce
