elevator control rigging

Post by LBPilot82 »

Looking through the Cessna 100 series manual, they mention an eccentric stop located at the aft of the plane for the elevator travel and an additional stop at the front. This front stop is supposed to be set to avoid pulling on the rigging after the elevator has reached full travel to avoid stretching or overstressing the system. I know this is a very generic manual but I don't see anything like that on my 49' A model. Anyone know of any 170's having this?

Disregard the 100 Series Service Manual instructions, which apply to several different models and is not specific to the 170 or the A model. Here's the elevator rigging instructions for the 170 and 170A (with Thanks for Tom Hall for compilation.)
" C-170 & C170A
1. The elevator travel for the 170 and 170A, 28 degrees up and 17 degrees down +/- 1 degree.
2. The elevator travel is limited by two stops located at the rear of the fuselage in the elevator bell crank. Set the stops (eccentric blocks) so the elevator has the correct travel when the aft bell crank is in contact with them.
3. With the elevator in the full down position, the measurement from the firewall to the edge of the chain sprocket hub should be ½”.
4. Adjust the cables to approximately 30 lbs.
5. Check for angular discrepancy between the left and right side. If any is found it is caused by a mechanical problem."
