Sliding Hangar Doors (split from Special Alert Bulletins)

Post by christopher merker »

Hi George - can you help me with a hanger door issue? I am considering purchase of hanger with opening between support posts at 39'6". Overhead slider doors are not an option due to support strenghth of old hangers. Is there some sort of "wrap around" door that would move horinzontally INTO the hanger along each wall?
Thanks, Chris Merker 406-535-3788

(This post was split from an unassociated topic, "Special Alert Bulletins".)

Yes, you can do that, but you'll lose about 2-feet of span, so it'd be tough to fit a 170 in the hangar afterwards.

The door of my design to which Bruce Shipp referred you would work and requires very little support from the existing hangar structure. It is supported by it's own header and uses existing structure only for balance.
