Potential Problem
While cleaning out my fuel tank bays I discovered that somewhere down the line the screws that hold the door stops to the underside of the wing had been replaced with screws 1/4 inch too long. Two small dents were found in each tank. Had the screws been slightly longer it could have rubbed a hole through the tank with potentially disasterous results. Cleaning out this area is a pain but I'll not be hauling a couple of mouse condos, a double handful of mud dauber nests and a snake skin. Also some of the rubber strips that the tank sits on and the rub strips under the tiedowns had moved out of position. Several small areas of corrosion were also cleaned up and treated. It's a fairly nasty job but one that probably should be done more than once in fifty years.
