Sure, send me yours, I'll asses the damage. I'll send you a usable starter now (actually right now) if you need it that quick. Then I'll rebuild yours for Dad's airplane. Other wise I would contact Aircraft Systems Inc at Rockford IL. They do excellent work.....Bradj3pup wrote:Anybody have any recommendations on where to buy a new starter for my C145 engine.

I recommend Aerotech of Louisville, KY for most accessories including starters, generators, alternators and carburetors. While they are a distributor for Kelly Aerospace....they also do their own work on their own benches and THAT is what you should request, in my opinion. (They also give free advice on the phone. Good folks. Let them know you heard about them from this forum because I just recently talked to them and assured them we appreciate their support.)

I have a good used Delco pull-starter for only $3500.
The catch is that it comes with a run-out C-145 complete firewall forward with a C-170 mount attached, less generator drive gear, propeller, and spinner.
Seriously, if you might be interested in upgrading (relative term, right George?) to an all-electric starter, there are several threads here debating the pros and cons. Do a search on B&C + skytech + starter.
